Healthy meals and snacks will soon be available across central and eastern North Carolina thanks to the Food Lion Feeds Summer Food & Fund Drive from June 23-27. Participating Food Lion locations in Greenville, Jacksonville, Kinston, Morehead City, and New Bern will collect funds and food donations for a week-long drive to #StopSummerHunger. 

June has long marked a time when kids no longer have easy access to breakfast and lunch at school. Many parents and caregivers must come up with at least 10 additional meals per week, per child, making the summer months among the most challenging times of year to keep food on the table. To help meet this urgent need, Food Lion Feeds and WCTI NewsChannel 12 are teaming up with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina as hunger reaches a 20-year high in the region. One out of every five children now face food insecurity in local communities — underscoring the need to raise awareness of available resources and opportunities to support local kids and families.
