Double Your Impact with a Workplace Matching Gift

Maximize the impact of your donation with your company's matching gift program. See if your employer will match your donation and double the power of your generosity today.

Many companies offer opportunities to increase the impact of employees' contributions of time and money to local nonprofits.

When an employee makes a donation, they’ll request a matching gift from their employer. The employer then makes their own donation to the nonprofit. Companies usually match donations at a 1:1 ratio, but some will match at a 2:1, 3:1, or even a 4:1 ratio. Some will even match your volunteer time with a financial donation on your behalf!

There are three simple steps to double your donation.

  1. Check Eligibility: Talk to your Human Resources or Social Responsibility team to see if your employer supports matching gifts (many do!)
  2. Submit a Request: Complete your company's matching gift form or follow their online process
  3. Multiply your Impact: Once approved, your donation will be matched, increasing the difference you're making

  • What is a matching gift?

Corporate matching gift programs are a form of giving back in which organizations financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. Many companies match employees’, retirees', and employees’ spouses’ charitable contributions on both monetary donations and volunteer hours. Matching gifts help build community relationships and furthers the impact made by employee contributions.

  • Will my company match my donation?

Check with your HR team to see if your company offers a matching gift program. Most larger companies offer this benefit. If they don't currently offer this support, it's worth inquiring about starting a matching gift program. Many companies are excited to take this simple step to support local nonprofits!

  • My employer doesn't offer matching gifts. Is there a way to start a program?

Check with your company's Human Resources or Social Responsibility team. Your company may still offer a matching gift program. If they do not already have a plan in the works, our Development Team can help them start one.

  • What types of donations are eligible for a match?

Many companies match employees’, retirees', and employees’ spouses’ charitable contributions on both monetary donations and volunteer hours. Check your company's matching gift program for specifics.

  • How much of my donation will my employer match?

Companies offer different matches. Some will match your exact donation, and others will match at a higher rate. Check your company's guidelines for information.

  • How long does it take to receive a match?

The length of the process can vary depending on the employer, but requesting your match sooner means the Food Bank can receive funds faster.

  • Can I request a match if I already donated?

Yes! If you donated to the Food Bank this year, you can still have your gift matched. Check with your company for more details.
