4x MATCH: Our #GivingTuesday 'Fill the Cart' Challenge

These are difficult times for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. 

A dollar doesn’t put as much into the grocery cart as it used to. In fact, in the past few years alone, food prices in our area rose by 23.6% — and they haven’t stopped.

The price of groceries has placed healthy food out of reach for far too many families. The cost of milk, eggs, and bread are all up. Coffee prices have risen more than 20% over the past year. Ground beef is at a record-high price per pound. Fresh fruits and vegetables have seen the highest monthly increase since the pandemic. 

This #GivingTuesday, generous community supporters have stepped up to quadruple the value of every gift to fill neighbors' grocery carts with healthy, culturally-familiar food. That means every $10 donated equals 200 meals — and with a midnight match deadline, time is running out to maximize your impact. 

High food costs mean more children, families, and seniors than ever are facing hunger right now. 

And with the coldest months of the year coming up, high heating bills will put even more of a strain on their budgets. Imagine having to choose between staying warm or putting food on the table. No one should have to make these impossible choices. No one should go hungry, period.

Hunger isn’t just a matter of empty stomachs. It’s a community-wide symptom of not having enough — enough food, enough income, enough voice in the decisions that impact our families. But we don't have to accept this reality; we can change it together.
