Market on Greenfield Celebrates One Year Serving Wilmington Families

Legal Feeding Frenzy is an annual joint program of the North Carolina Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division and our statewide association of Food Banks, Feeding the Carolinas. Together, we aim to fight hunger across the state by uniting the legal community in a common cause.

Throughout March, law firms, law schools, and organizations across the state engage in a friendly competition, donating food and funds in support of North Carolina’s food banks. The Legal Feeding Frenzy drive fueled more than 560,000 meals in 2025 – and the legal community’s generosity has taken on even greater importance in 2026 as hunger relief organizations face steep cuts to federal nutrition programs and funding.

Legal Feeding Frenzy kicked off with a volunteer shift at our Food Bank warehouse in Raleigh. The legal community sorted enough sweet potatoes to fuel hundreds of meals for local families!

Our President & CEO, Amy Beros, welcomed volunteers with opening remarks about the impact of Legal Feeding Frenzy. Across North Carolina, 1 in 7 of our neighbors is facing hunger. Each donated meal can be a lifeline for families.

Last year alone, Legal Feeding Frenzy helped provide more than 500,000 meals to local families. Think about that. Half a million moments of relief. Half a million times a parent could exhale because dinner was covered. Half a million opportunities for a child to go to school nourished and ready to learn. When you donate, you are investing in stability. You are investing in dignity. You might even be investing in the next generation of lawyers who will one day stand where you stand.

The Food Bank was joined by the Office of the Attorney General, which plays a fundamental role in galvanizing the legal community. Stephanie Robinson, General Counsel at the NC Department of Justice, shared that justice is intricately tied to food security.

When we participate in Legal Feeding Frenzy, we are not just donating cans or writing checks. We are strengthening families, stabilizing communities, and reinforcing the idea that justice is not only about how we practice law, it is also whether our neighbors

Registration is now open for the 2026 Legal Feeding Frenzy. With leadership from Attorney General Jeff Jackson, this friendly competition awards the law firm, school, or organization with the highest average individual donation. Winners will be awarded the prestigious and highly coveted “Attorney General’s Cup.” In addition, the Attorney General will present awards in categories including: Sole Practitioner, Small Firm, Medium Firm, Large Firm, Law School, Government / Public Interest, and Corporate / In-House Counsel. Firms can earn bonus points by volunteering together at their local food bank.
