Our Statement on USDA Elimination of Vital Hunger Data
We need your support more than ever this holiday season.
Right now, more than 1.7 million people in North Carolina don’t know where their next meal might come from. That’s one out of every seven neighbors we run into at the grocery store, in the waiting room, or out pumping gas. And as the cost of food and fuel continue to rise and federal support declines, we’re staring down the most serious hunger crisis we’ve seen in at least a generation.
That's why we're so grateful for the support of community partners who make holiday food drives possible. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank provides enough food to fuel three meals for children, seniors, and working adults throughout our region. Your support restocks pantry shelves so parents can create holiday memories with their children. Get involved in your community this holiday season!
The need for support has never been greater — and every $10 donation provides 30 meals!

We are excited to welcome David Garris as the new Chair of the Food Bank Board of Directors!
We are excited to welcome David Garris, a longtime Food Lion executive, as the new Chair of the Food Bank Board of Directors!
David brings 17 years of Operations experience as Food Lion's Vice President in the Mid-Atlantic Division. We look forward to David's leadership in the fight to end hunger.
As a lifelong resident of eastern North Carolina, David is committed to building a future where no one has to face the impossible choice between dinner and rent. For two years in a row, David helped lead team members from Food Lion FEEDS who volunteered at all six Food Bank branches in just one day. The 2nd Annual 'Food Lion Feeds' Volunteer Day brought together a record-breaking 650+ Food Lion team members across all our locations to nourish our community.
Take Action to Support Local Hunger Relief Efforts
The new 'Food Lion FEEDS' Hunger Solution Center supports communities across Durham, Chatham, Granville, Orange, Person, and Vance counties. If you’re in a position to help, there are concrete ways to make a difference right now!
During our #StopSummerHunger campaign, all donations matched through July 31. That means very dollar fuels 6 meals!
In the average volunteer shift, a single person will sort and pack enough food to fuel more than 160 meals for local families.
Advocate for investments in local farms and families. No one in our community should go hungry — and state and federal leaders must act.
