Join the Food Bank for our final senior voucher distribution of the summer at the State Farmers Market!Ā

On Wednesday, August 26, the final round of Senior Farmers Market vouchers will be distributed to Wake County seniors who meet income guidelines.Ā

This effort is a part of the NC SeniorsĀ Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), led by the state Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS). During the summer, this program provides vouchersĀ in participating countiesĀ to eligible lower-income older adults to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs at SFMNP-certified farmers' markets. Running July 1 to September 30, this summertime program is designed to improve the nutrition of older adults and increase business for local farmers and farmers markets.

Wake County Voucher Requirements

  • Seniors must be age 60 or older
  • Live in Wake County
  • Have an income of less than 185% of the poverty limit ($2,461/month or less for a one-person household; $3,337 for two people)
  • Please bring a form of ID with youĀ

Live outside Wake County?Ā

Dozens of farmers' markets across the state participate in the senior program!

Additional Details

Unlike SNAP grocery support, senior farmers' market vouchers are not part of an entitlement program — and Ā SFMNP vouchers are not guaranteed. There may not be enough funds for all eligible persons to receive SFMNP vouchers in a participating county. If you’re interested in the program, live in a county with a participating local agency, and meet the other eligibility requirements noted, contact the local agency in your county for more information about applications and voucher availability.
