Hundreds of Volunters Pack Over 200,000 Meals to Honor the 25th Anniversary of 9/11
25 Years Later: Volunteers Transform the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 into a Unifying Day of Service For Families Facing Food Insecurity
On September 11, 2026, hundreds of volunteers joined a nationwide movement to "Honor Through Action." Our friends at the nonprofit 9/11 Day organized the largest annual day of service in U.S. history. On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, 50,000 volunteers across the country packed around 17 million meals, helping to unify and strengthen communities through shared action.
In North Carolina, volunteers gathered on NC State's campus to pack more than 200,000 healthy, non-perishable meals for families facing hunger. All meals will be donated to the Food Bank for distribution to local individuals and families in need.
