Exciting news about our new Durham Food Bank — and how to stay involved.

We're excited to share some wonderful news with you: our new Durham Branch is almost here!

With leading support from our friends at Food Lion Feeds, the new Food Bank at Durham is a big step forward for our local network and the communities we serve. The 64,000-square-foot facility — nearly double the size of our Angier Avenue location — is designed with community at the center. It will include dedicated space for volunteer sorting and repack efforts, community meetings and trainings, expanded cold storage, and improved access to fresh, locally grown food for partners across Durham and surrounding counties.

As we prepare for the move, our time on Old East Durham on Angier Avenue is coming to a close.

Our final volunteer shifts there will take place on MLK Day of Service, Monday, January 19. While we work through the move and final construction details, operations will temporarily shift to our Raleigh Headquarters, and we expect to welcome volunteers to our new Durham Branch beginning in early March — with the first shifts likely starting March 3.

In the meantime, there are many meaningful ways to stay connected to this work:

We can’t wait to welcome you into this new space and continue this work together. Thank you for the care, time, and heart you bring to our mission — it truly makes a difference for our neighbors.
