The winter holidays are a time when many of us think about the importance of a good meal and time with loved ones. The spirit of the season inspires incredible generosity — and for that we are truly grateful.
But hunger hunger is a year-round crisis that doesn’t pause when attention fades. And neither can we.
The need for food assistance is higher than we've seen in a generation or more. Yet cuts to federal funding, the elimination of national nutrition programs, and the ongoing state budget impasse have seriously hampered the efforts of hunger relief organizations.

We can’t do this work alone
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our work at the Food Bank. From sorting food in our warehouses, to distributing resources in the community, to advocating for stronger safety nets.

The Food Bank operates six central branches serving local hunger relief organizations across central and eastern North Carolina.
