Supporting Neighbors During Pop-Up Market Transitions
We're committed to a sustainable future where neighbors can easily connect with local resources ā no matter where we live.Ā
Rooted in a 'community growth model,' we launched our mobile distributions to fill known gaps in food access while we build the capacity of local partner agencies. These Pop-Up Markets are led by the local volunteers with food, supplies, and logistical support from the Food Bank team Ā ā with the shared goal of establishing permanent distribution sites in 12-18 months.
That's why the Food Bank works to build local infrastructure and capacity to support communities well into the future.
Pop-Up Markets serve thouands of families each month, and many locations now see more people than we did at the peak of the pandemic. The increase in demand underscores the urgency of establishing community-led pantries and meal sites ā especially in neighborhoods without easy access to full grocery stores or traditional food assistance sites.

This means several Pop-Up Markets will wind down in the coming weeks as we deepen our support for local partner agencies.
The following Pop-Up Market sites will host their final distributions from 10 a.m. to noon in March and April. Each site willl have a 'Community Connect' event to ensure all shoppers know where and how to access long-term resources.Ā Ā
- Monday, March 2nd: Halifax County Center
- Thursday, March 5th: Hopkins Chapel, Zebulon
- Tuesday, March 10th: Bennett Baptist
- Thursday, March 19th: Central Carolina Center for Workforce Innovation
- Thursday, March 24th: St. Augustine's University
- Friday, April 3rd: Warrenton
- Tuesday, April 14th: Bennett Baptist
- Thursday, April 16th: Central Carolina Center for Workforce InnovationĀ
We send our heartfelt thanks to the organizations and volunteers who partnered with us to make these distributions possible. While we're sad to say goodbye to these temporary Pop-up locations, we're proud to continue working with nearby pantries and meal sites to better serve neighbors moving forward. And the Food Bank is working to provide additional food and funding to help meet increased demand.Ā
