Students Against Hunger
Oct 15 – Dec 4 all-day

If your school community came together to raise meals for our food-insecure neighbors, how many people could you feed? Find out!

Register your school here!

Last year schools (daycare-college) collectively raised 341,548 meals. This year due to COVID-19, the food insecurity rate in our service area has risen by an estimated 38% — meaning Students Against Hunger is more important than ever.

This year’s competition is entirely virtual! We have a brand new Virtual Food Drive system that we’re excited for everyone to use.

What You Need to Know:

  • Dates: Collect and donate food and funds anytime between Thursday, October 15th through Friday, December 4th.
  • New Platform: We have a new user-friendly platform that gives you the power to create and customize your page. You can share this link with teachers, students, parents, friends, family, and school alumni. Donations made online are received immediately by our Food Bank, and you will know how much your team has raised in real-time. Every dollar donated is equal to 5 meals!
  •  Donation Drop-Offs: Although we are not emphasizing physical food drives, we will still accept donations made in this fashion. Food and funds must get dropped off at one of our branches during business hours Monday-Friday. Due to limited resources, we are not able to offer a Saturday drop-off date. Please ensure to record the weight of your donation (or cash amount) and report back to me for tracking purposes.

Vote to End Hunger
Nov 3 @ 6:30 am – 7:30 pm

During this time of crisis our neighbors need us more than ever. Millions of Americans have applied for unemployment and need help filling their fridges. If you agree that everyone one should be able to put nutritious and healthy food on the table, make a plan to vote in this year’s election. By voting, either in person or from home, you can help ensure no family has to choose between buying groceries or paying rent.

Sample Ballots are available now
Registered voters may enter their information into the Board of Election’s Voter Search tool to preview their 2020 ballot. Get informed today by looking up ballot issues and local races in your area, or browsing the nonpartisan 2020 NC Voter Guide.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3
Early voting in NC runs October 15-31, and vote by mail has already begun in NC. For more information on how, where, and when you can vote, visit the voter information page on North Carolina State Board of Election’s website.

Beyond voting
The Food Bank operates from a public policy and advocacy platform that addresses federal, state, and municipal policies that impact hunger relief and support an environment where all North Carolinians thrive. Learn more about our public policy platform here

Peter: 40 years of feeding

Even as the first food bank in the state, I doubt our founders could have predicted how food insecurity would increase and the challenges we would meet along the way.
