Now at the age of nine, Emilia is a dedicated volunteer at the Food Bank’s Greenville branch. Our volunteers are a part of the Food Bank’s mission of ensuring no one goes hungry. Volunteers more than double our staff and ensure we can open our doors each day.

Whether it’s packaging carrots or sorting sweet potatoes, Emilia shows her excitement every time she volunteers.

“Sweet potato bagging was a really good opportunity for my school. Everyone felt good that they had helped someone. The students really learned more from this project, and it expanded what they already knew about community needs,” said Emilia.

Emilia’s mother, Lana, is so proud to see her daughter supporting the food bank’s mission of ensuring no one goes hungry.

“We should never underestimate the potential impact our children can have on the world. Kids are very capable and resourceful,” said Lana.

Emilia knows the importance of giving back and shared, “It’s really all about if you believe in yourself. Even if other people say you are too young to make a difference in the community, there really is no limit to how young you can be to help.”

Emilia is proof that there is no age limit to generosity. She shared, “My favorite part of volunteering is knowing that I’m helping the community.”
