Throughout the school year, the Food Bank manages our Kids Cafe program, which is an after-school program that offers tutoring, nutrition education, mentoring and nutritious meals to children at risk of hunger. Each Kids Cafe site is operated in partnership with a respected community agency to provide the attention and accountability needed to ensure quality programs for children.
Every year the Food Bank recognizes five of those agencies that go above and beyond the program requirements with our Kids Cafe Standards of Excellence Awards. The programs recognized this year received a monetary award of $1,000 (Best All-Around received $1,500) to reinvest in their exceptional programs. Read on to learn about the amazing things they are doing in their communities.
