Food Bank partnership nets 2.7+ million meals for local communities, part of 100 million pounds donated nationwide

Our friends at Publix reached an incredible milestone this week — donating enough fresh fruit and vegetables to support 83.3+ million meals (100 million pounds!) across Feeding America food banks nationwide.

The food purchase and donation program began as an initiative to support struggling famers the height of the pandemic. Since 2020, our local partnership has brought the equivalent of 2.7+ million meals to families facing hunger in our communities.

“As a grocery retailer, we can make our largest impact by helping feed our neighbors in need. Donating 100 million pounds of produce is an example of the difference Publix associates make year-round. I am proud of this innovative program and how we continue to find new ways to support the communities we serve, but our work is not done. We look forward to continuing to provide our food bank partners with produce throughout the year.”
– Publix CEO Kevin Murphy

“Feeding America is deeply grateful for our partnership with Publix and for the generosity they continue to demonstrate. Their contribution of 100 million pounds of fresh produce makes a meaningful difference to people facing food insecurity. We look forward to continuing to work together in the movement to end hunger.”
– Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot.

This milestone is part of the company’s Good Together effort to address hunger across its service area — through which food banks like ours connect pantries, no-cost markets, and meal sites with surplus food from nearby Publix stores. Feeding America recognizes Publix as a Feeding America Visionary Partner for its contributions to partner food banks.
