Even as the first food bank in the state, I doubt our founders could have predicted how food insecurity would increase and the challenges we would meet along the way.
There are people visiting the Food Bank and our partner agencies who have never had to worry about where their next meal would come from, and because of you we are able to help.
Hunger is complicated and evolves based on many different factors, and the Food Bank must do the same.

Overall food insecurity has gone down, but 2 very important populations have not improved: our children and the senior citizens in our community.
The adults watched as the brother took a meal for himself but was not eating it. When asked if anything was wrong with the food, the boy responded no, but that he needed to save it for his other younger sister, who was at home.

For those who were already struggling to provide for their family’s basic needs, the flooding is even more catastrophic. And unfortunately, many these folks have a long recovery still ahead.
